Hi and Welcome to Sarah's Yoga......

I had the opportunity to visit India in April for two weeks - what an experience!!!  We went to Kerala, it is so beautiful and the people are so so friendly.  Yes there is a different lifestyle to our Western world but there were times when I wondered who was in the best place.....

I was very lucky to find a wonderful yoga teacher whilst I was there for some one to one tuition - which I really enjoyed both physically and spiritually.  We were invited to visit his yoga studio and his family.  The yoga space has a wonderfully calm and tranquil atmosphere- so if anyone is going to Kerala staying near Trivandrum - let me know and I will put you in touch with Gopin.

There are still a few places available at the new class - Monday evenings at 6 pm - 7:30 pm suitable for all ages and abilities especially beginners. Venue is the Ley Arms at Kenn, about 5 minutes off the A38 - so ideal after work on your way home. If you are interested, please contact me for further details.

The Yoga Day on the 3rd May was well attended and I hope everyone had a day where they could deepen their yoga and explore the subject of chakras and how to increase your awareness of them into your daily life.  One attendee said they slept for two hours when they got home!! Something to do with the fabulous lunch I think......

I will be holding another day in September - topic as yet to be decided, however if you have any specfic subjects you might like to explore, please send me an email with your suggestions.  Thanks.

I have reserved the 21st - 23th Nov for our Yoga weekend.  Little later than normal but I was keen to keep it in the same beautiful location.  Bookings are already being made, so if you are interested, please reserve your place early as places are limited.  For further details see link on left hand side.

I am passionate about Yoga and its benefits - physically, emotionally and spiritually, and want to encourage as many people as possible to experience Yoga.

This website is a one way of explaining and giving an insight of how Yoga can benefit us all whatever our size, age and ability. (As you can see from my photos, I am not in my first flush of youth or a size 10!!).  I believe that we all have the opportunity to learn throughout our lives. I like to think that Yoga is taking me on a journey and  would like to share with you my path of learning, experience and knowledge so far.

I live in Devon near Dartmoor and love taking Yoga out to small communities and choose to teach mainly in village halls - currently in Sticklepath near Okehampton about 20 mins from Exeter and Kennford, nr Exeter.

I am available to teach on a one to one basis in your home. Another way of joining in - is to come and  stay on one of the Yoga weekend breaks held in a beautiful part of Devon (next one in Nov 2008).  My teaching style is one of fun, with practical tips and is definitely non-competitive.

What is Yoga?

Life can be very hectic at times and we all have different ways of coping with the stress of every day living.  But whilst we are rushing around trying to get everything done at the same time - do you ever think how good it would be to step off the treadmill for a while…..

Yoga can help you do this.  Why not allow yourself a couple of hours to give your mind and body a bit of a pamper… Time for the body to stretch and increase its flexibility and for the mind to learn to relax!

It is never too late to start yoga and it is suitable for all ages and abilities – men and women

Yoga and Sarah

I started yoga after having a major operation and wanted a type of exercise that would give me time to heal as well as keeping fit.  That was seven years ago and now I am completely hooked!

I am a member of the British Wheel of Yoga and completed the foundation course to further my own practice.

In 2005, I started my teacher training and now hold the British Wheel of Yoga teaching diploma.

Yoga is not ...

A competition – our bodies are all different – some asanas will be easier for others – find your own level and work with your breath to deepen and develop your strength.

A quick fix – it takes time for us to re learn how to allow the mind to focus on one thing at a time rather than rush around doing several things at once!

A religion or cult – the aim of yogic practice is to bring the mind, body and breath into harmony and work as one.

Please get in touch to offer comments and join the mailing list for sales and special events!

My thanks to Steve for helping me start the website, to John for taking some photos, to my teachers - especially Kay, Wendy, Angela, Chris and Tricia and to my darling husband for all his love and support.
